Memory Pillars Of Gamawada

As part of the commemoration and remembrance of elders and ancestors, the tribal community in the small village of Gamawada built stone pillars centuries back along the lines of Stonehenge (United Kingdom). It is evident from these memory pillars that there existed a custom centuries ago of the aboriginal community to erect huge stone pillars to keep alive the memories of the dead and deceased relatives. These massive stone pillars invite visitors to understand the age-old tradition of the local tribes. These colossal stone pillars built by local residents actually show their affection and fondness towards their elders. The memory pillars of Gamawada have proved to be one of the strongest tourist attractions in Dantewada over the years. These monolithic stone pillars stand witness to the oldest habitation that existed in this southern part of Bastar.
