According to believe this temple constructed in the Nagara style in village Samlur, was built on the 11th century. It was built by Somaldevi, the queen of the then Nagvanshi ruler Someshwar Dev. Apart from Mondays of the Hindi month Sawan, queues of visitors can be seen on special occasions like Mahashivratri, Magha Purnima. On Mahashivratri a fair is held outside the temple premises, attracts large number of visitors. Samlur is accessible from Dantewada through rural road as well as from Geedam town by NH-63, throughout the year. This temple is an example of devotion and craftsmanship that is attracting devotees and tourists alike.
