This special temple of Lord Ganesh situated in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh is situated on the Dholkal hill of Bailadila range. Placed at al altitude of about 3000 feet above the sea level, Dholkal is around 21 km away from the district headquarter Dantewada. The 3 feet beautiful stone idol of Lord Ganesha is believed to have been made during the Naga dynasty between the 10th and 11th centuries. No one knows how the idol of Ganesha reached such a height. While venturing to visit this spot full of trekking and brisk walking for around 5 Kms, availing the services of the guides from Village Faraspal is advised.
There is a popular hearsay that Lord Parushuram and Lord Ganesha fought in this place in which Lord Ganesh lost one of his teeth. There exists a small temple of Lord Parashuram in village Faraspal passing through which visitors reach Dholkal.
