As soon as rains reach Dantewada, many types of mushrooms start appearing in the haats i.e. weekly markets, which are also called Futtu in the regional language Halbi. All these mushrooms are sold very expensive during the rainy days, even though Its sales do not decrease. As soon as the monsoon arrives, Jam Futtu, Dengur Futtu, Manay Futtu, Kudur Futtu, Karit Futtu, Dobri Futtu, Para Futtu, Khunta Futtu start appearing in the markets. The place of origin of all these mushrooms is different. Especially in such areas of the forest where there is a balance of sunlight and heat Dengur Futtu are found (Dengul means snake's bill). The futtu coming out from under the Wala Jamun which is a very big and shady tree is called Jam Futtu. In all the districts of Bastar, these mushrooms have been named on the basis of their size and places of origin. All these mushrooms are cooked in a very simple way, but sour is used in all mushroom vegetables. Futtu are considered very tasty by the people here and is eat with great fervour.
